A good 'quote' from a book...

More like a short paragraph I guess...
This is from the short story titled 'Mrs. Todd's Shortcut' by Stephen King
"... in her heart what every woman wants to be is some kind of goddess, I think - men pick up a ruined echo of that thought and try to put them on pedestals ... but what a man senses is not what a woman wants. A woman wants to be in the clear, is all. To stand if she will, or walk... or to drive... A man will not see that. He thinks the goddess wants to loll on a slope somewhere on the foothills of Olympus and eat fruit, but there is no god or goddess in that. All a woman wants is what a man wants - a woman wants to drive."
Can a movie shake your faith?

There is a big uproar about this movie right now... The movie "The Golden Compass" starring Nicole Kidman is scheduled to be released in December. Aparently the movie is based on a trilogy of books written by Phillip Pullman, an athiest in England, in which children eventually kill God. The author won a few prestigious awards for these books in England.
So here's my deal. People are saying this is like an "Anti-Narnia" movie. Now I have never seen The chronicles of narnia but I guess its something religious based. Ok, so the Christians are freaking out over this movie being about killing God and trying to tell everyone about it so no one will go see it. Well, If you're so devout about your faith why couldn't your kids go see this movie? It could let them see the other side of things, broaden their horizons, allow them to see someone else's point of view. You can still do that and keep your faith, right? Shouldn't this world be more about everyone, and all the different opinions and beliefs everyone has? To each their own and all that? What about the athiests in this world? Maybe they want a movie for their beliefs for their children... Can't they have that right too? I guess I just don't see what the big deal is... Now I want to go see this movie just to figure out what the big deal is. Guess I'll have to watch Narnia too.
Ok so, what do you think? See for yourself, get the info and check out the snopes link here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp
